Here is a cartoon that I prepared on the weekend. Just thought I would share a nugget of shoe philosophy with you...

I have made a decision. I have not planned when exactly I'll do this project, except to say that it will be before 2009 finishes... I want to make myself the pictured John Galliano pirate inspired jacket.
Ever since seeing Rose (Billlie Piper) wear a union jack shirt in season one of Dr Who, I have wanted to have this piece in my wardrobe. Hmm... Nothing says 'target' like a good old fashioned union jack.

My creative space this week has been about my cat. I have been thinking about writing a children's picture book about Piper. To begin with I wrote a short poem and did some illustrations. I might take it a bit further. Click here to see the original blog entry that has the poem.
Today I will work on some fashion illustrations. A few days back I collected the July Vogue, and this magazine is always a good source of inspiration with some of my drawings.
I have been watching Veronica Mars and am inspired to do a series of pictures inspired by the lighting and sets of this show. It is a modern noir program that uses filtered light for flashback scenes and tinted windows casting orange, red and purple light in doors.

I swear my world just gets smaller and smaller.
A few months ago Pip, over at Meet Me At Mike's (if I am remembering correctly) was writing about the lovely fashion label Romance Was Born. Romance Was Born has some really out there designs for an Australian label. They really seem willing to take the plunge and create their own thing, rather than imitate overseas fashion. Their latest range was inspired by good old, homemade design, and the use of crochet work is quite notable.
Fast forward to today. I am touching base with my cousins and low and behold, I discover that one cousin (Teresa) created a hat for the label Romance Was Born, which was photographed in the July Vogue fashion shoot for this very label. It just so happened that I picked up a copy of the magazine yesterday (see pictured).

Piper, my cat is a very clumsy creature, always doing things like falling off tables and ledges. The following short poem is inspired by Piper and is told from the perspective of a child.
I have a pet cat.
But between you and I,
I do not think she is really a cat.
She doesn’t behave,
The way most cats rave.
She falls off tabletops,
With an earth shuddering flop.
Mum and Dad get a laugh, and say,
“She must be from another planet.”
Me though, I do have to wonder.
Watching my cat take another blunder.
Could it be that, my cat is an alien?
It would explain why she dances to Lily Allen.
Sometimes around the corner, I spy,
I am sure I have seen her fly.
At night she watches the stars by my window,
Perhaps waiting for a ship to take her in tow.
I have great news! Quite recently I was accepted into a local illustration agency known as The Illustration Room.
Very soon there will be a folio profile of my work on the agency website. And if you visit the site right now you can see a basic reference to my work. Simply follow this link.

One of the earliest films that I remember watching in the first several years of my life was Forbidden Planet. Anne Francis starred as Altaira in this film. I am led to believe that it was the first sci-fi flick to be given both a big budget and to filmed in colour. Forbidden Planet remains to this day one of my all time favorite movies.
Over the years Anne has appeared in a multitude of movies and television programs. From 1965 to 1966 she starred in a telly series titled Honey West, as a private investigator... with a whole lotta James Bond.
More recently Anne has been battling with lung cancer (2007-2008) and is now going through a recovery stage. Best wishes Anne!
